South African Gwijo Awards
1. Introduction
Welcome to the South African Gwijo Awards (SAGA) website. By accessing and using this website, you accept and agree to be bound by the terms and conditions set forth below. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use this website.
2. Definitions
- "SAGA" refers to the South African Gwijo Awards, its organisers, and the Gwijo Arts Council (GAC).
- "Website" refers to the official SAGA website and all associated pages.
- "User" refers to any individual who accesses or uses the website.
- "Nominee" refers to any artist, group, or individual nominated for a SAGA award.
- "Nominator" refers to any individual who submits a nomination entry.
3. Eligibility
- Nominees must be South African citizens or permanent residents.
- The nominated work must have been released or performed within the eligibility period (1 January 2025 – 31 December 2025).
- Self-nominations are permitted.
- The nominated artist or group must have an active presence in the gwijo music scene.
4. Nomination Process
- All nomination entries must be submitted through the official SAGA nominations portal.
- Each entry must include the artist's full name and the relevant award category.
- Incomplete entries will not be considered.
- Each nomination form covers one artist per category. To nominate multiple artists, submit separate entries.
- Nominations open on 1 May 2026 and close on 30 June 2026. Late entries will not be accepted.
5. Selection & Judging
- All nominations will be reviewed by the SAGA judging panel.
- The judging panel's decisions are final and not subject to appeal.
- SAGA reserves the right to reassign nominations to appropriate categories.
- The SAGA committee reserves the right to verify all nominations and request additional information.
6. Voting
- Public voting will be conducted via the official SAGA voting channels.
- Each person is allowed to vote once per category unless otherwise stated.
- Any attempt to manipulate or rig votes will result in disqualification.
- SAGA reserves the right to audit votes and disqualify fraudulent entries.
7. Intellectual Property
- All content on this website, including text, images, logos, and designs, is the property of SAGA and the Gwijo Arts Council.
- Unauthorized reproduction, distribution, or use of any content is strictly prohibited.
- The SAGA name, logo, and all related marks are trademarks of the Gwijo Arts Council.
8. User Accounts
- Users may need to create an account to submit nominations or access certain features.
- Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their account credentials.
- SAGA reserves the right to suspend or terminate any account that violates these terms.
- Users must provide accurate and truthful information when creating an account.
9. Limitation of Liability
SAGA and the Gwijo Arts Council shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from the use of this website, participation in the awards, or reliance on any information provided herein. The website is provided on an "as is" basis without warranties of any kind.
